Intro to Glass Beadmaking | 3 Hours
Course Description
Learn how to make your own glass beads! Using soft Moretti glass, students will develop a foundation for creating their own colorful beads using glass flameworking techniques. Offered as an introductory course, no prior experience is required and those of all skill levels are welcome to join as we spend the morning creating glass beads for jewlery making using a varied set of skills.
Students will be introduced to the magic of glass beadmaking, as well as the tools and techniques used to create patterns with dots, stringers, and encasement. The class will be formatted with a cohesive mix of lecture, demonstration, and practice time to keep students engaged before they leave class with their own collection of beads for jewelry-making, crafting, and beyond.
With this foundation course, students will learn about the tools and equipment in the glass studio while practicing techniques such as color application, marvering with paddles and graphite molds, shaping, hot sculpting, and attachment sealing.
